I'm currently in the U.K. and the weather is wonderful.
I received a parcel this morning from a friend who repairs my jewellery, this brooch is one of these items. When I bought this brooch I thought it was a Austro-Hungarian especially with the back, it did have a few issues. The first issue was the central pearl, it really doesn't look right if you look at the photo. He originally was looking for a blister pearl, but decided on a green agate, it is slightly different colour to the other green stones. The other issue is the silver stems which branch out from the middle then at the end are flowers, the frame which these flowers are attached is loose I'm not sure if it's suppose to be like this.
I think he's done a great job.
My question is do you think this brooch is Austro-Hungarian, and the berries are they suppose to be loose.
Many thanks for looking
Hi Jean! No doubt for me for Austro Hungarian origin :-)
I agree the pearl was a replacement, and even if a blister pearl would have been right, a green agate has its place :-)
I don't think the frame holding the berries was supposed to be loose... Silver being a rather soft metal, age and wear loosen the rivet.
Yes, I see what you mean by the rivet loosening kyra, thanks for your help. I hope your keeping well, I've been off the radar for a while, busy with other things.
I'm with you and Kyra on this Jean even though I don't know all that much, first glance said Austro-Hungarian to me and I love it!!
Hi Judy, thank you to both you and Kyra, I've now solved the mystery.
Many thanks
