Russian Folk Art

This is a piece of Russian folk art given to me by a Russian nun. It has no makers stamps anywhere on it so its definitely hand made and definitely genuine. The only thing I don't know about it is the wood it's made from- it appears to be a soft wood as the lid and panels of the box are sewn on with strips of the same wood. Small and excellently made!
