This interesting vase from Iwatsu Glass demonstrates well the importance of pottery form and decor in influencing Japanese glass makers.

This is not a typical form for glass work but does appear in pottery, and in some ways reminds me of a ginger, or other, storage jar, sans lid.
The twisted ribbing almost looks to me like finger drags marks, and the muted colours with dark and light speckles seem very glaze like.

It's a lovely piece to hold and has a subtlety that I have not captured well in photographs.

This would have been produced anytime between 1950s and 1990s. I can't be more specific than that.

Thanks Judy. Unlit in photos it is harder to see the detail. In hand, it's all more obvious.

Ivonne it is not one of their bright and large pieces for sure, but still intrinsically Japanese. Thanks for the love and comment.
