Sterling silver and gold earrings with handmade paper. Purchased in Canada in the 1980-90s.

Gorgeous and in excellent condition for such a unique use of paper.

Large flower styled butterfly clips.

Both earrings and backs are hallmarked sterling and signed BEYNON.

I have not polished them due to the delicate nature of the paper.

Aggie Beynon, received a BA in English at the University of Waterloo in 1975 and received a BFA, in the Design Department at the University of Kansas in 1982. Assisted by two Nunemaker Research Awards, Beynon developed a patentable metal process of combining powdered metals, to form a textured metal (results published in Metalsmith, 1982) - a process she has and continues to experiment with to create jewellery.

In 2005, Beynon was honoured with a 20-year retrospective of her art at Wilfrid Laurier University’s Robert Langen Art Gallery. The exhibit – labeled Wabi: Imperfect Beauty was lauded by reviewers. “. . . she manipulates materials in an expressive way which is loose, gestural and intuitive. In marked contrast to conventional jewellery, Beynon’s pieces are asymmetrical, roughly hewn and idiosyncratic.”
