This is the only cast metal T-6 Texan Trainer that I have ever seen. It has been restored for a private museum in the Midwest. The model was cast in brass and originally found in Texas. It might suggest that it was cast for the personnel at one of the many WW2 training bases located in that state. The ashtray and arm are aluminum with the emblem cast brass.
A new prop and spinner were cast and manufactured. The markings applied reflect later in 1944. Otherwise the model reflects how it would have appeared sitting on a desk in WW2.
The screaming yellow paint was popularized by the Navy first then the AAF and eventually with the plethora of air forces around the world. In amongst other vintage models in olive drab or even bare aluminum, this model is a stand out!!
You are a very clever restorer. This is just fantastic, and the yellow such a wow factor!
Thank-you. I appreciate the compliment.
