These two Victorian hand vases are clearly by the same maker, but have slight differences in size & decoration. Both are made from two layers of cased glass, white over a pink interior. The vase on the left measures 22.5 cm tall, 10 cm across the double crimped top rim, & 8 cm across the base.
The vase on the right measures 22 cm tall, 10.5 cm across the double crimped top rim, & 8 cm across the base. Both vases are right - handed.
    Bohemian origin.

Incredible painting on these. I don't know which to love most! The foliage and flowers around the necks are so delicate and pretty.

      Oooh! So nice vases!
I was thinking the one on the left is a man's hand, and the other a woman's...

Many thanks, racer4four! Yes, the painting is very nice on these...the decoration on hand vases varies wildly between fine & dainty, to rather simple, or even somewhat clumsy, but nonetheless charming. Many more examples to follow, so the full spectrum will be explored. :-)

Thanks also, kyratango - the variation between these two is largely down to the decoration - the hands are the same size - but one is painted on the exterior (left) & the other has a pinkish tone due to the inner casing of pink glass showing through, which does lend a more delicate appearance.
I do have one example of a hand vase which shows a distinct contrast between two hands (it is actually double handed) - the lower hand is larger & thicker, suggesting a masculine form, the upper, smaller & slimmer.

I will also soon be posting some more hand vases which feature a hand I think of as rather gender neutral.
