    Here is another tool I bought at a yard sale last weekend. The seller thought it was a wall scraper but as someone who has worked with tools for 50 years or more, I could not see how it could be used for scraping anything. The edges are very rounded. It is marked with "Merit Tools" and "Made in USA" The"scooped" part is about 3" by 1" and tool is about 8" long overall. The end of the tool swivels on the handle as shown in the last two pix. Any help would be appreciated. Any ideas?

      Your Merit, #802 Scraper, Is missing the blade larrypac! The heavy scooped part, is a place to hold onto to it, so you can bear down on it, while scraping. It is also made beefy, to reduce the chatter from the blade, imo. Here is some info in the links below.

      Great catch. Now I can see how it could be used for scraping. Too bad that the blade is gone. I had wondered what the small protrusion was and it is for locking the blade in four different positions so you can use four sharpened edges without having to stop to sharpen the blade. Thanks.
