Hi, Today I was garage sale hunting and came across this SEALPACKERCHIEF display case (bought for only $4 )I didn't know what it was but I thought it would be good to desplay my small curio items my reaseatch has me to believe this case was originally used to desplay handkerchiefs in a store I believe this to be from the early 1900's
The label witch is is very good condition reads This case is loaned with the understanding that it be used only for the display of SEALPACKERCHIEF Trade Mark-Reg U.S. Pat Off the International HDKF. MFG. CO.New York this display case measures 15"w by 4" deep
By 4"tall I would love to know more about this display case and if I should refinish the outer wood or will this decrease its value? I know that if you refinish antiques you loose decrease it value also I think the label is backwards so I might take the bottom screws off and rotate so the label reads from the front the back of this display case opens with a hinge that for viewing and reading
Well, to start with, that is a very nice find. Now, I found old ads dating from 1911 to 1915 where SEALPACKERCHIEF marketed handkerchiefs. and this display would probably house dozens of them at your friendly neighborhood store.
That is a fantastic item. I will not tell them if you put other items in it.
