BlackWatch
(65 items)
A lovely WWII Glengarry attributed to the Black Watch (Royal Highlanders). The glengarry is in amazing condition for it's age, and has long tails to the back of it. The glengarry is not dated, however it is attributed to Private John Houseman of the Black Watch (and later the Royal Scots). I am almost positive this glengarry is the one pictured being worn by Private Houseman while he is standing with two lovely ladies (sweetheart and sister, sisters, friends, other family?). This glengarry came out of a grouping to Private Houseman I recently purchased. Also included in the lot was the badge to this glengarry, but it was off the glengarry and I am not sure how to fit it back on yet. I will be posting other things from the grouping very soon as well. Not everyday do you get a nice conditioned Black Watch glengarry, but to have it probably in a picture with the soldier wearing it is really nice.
A little bit off topic, but I just saw the new movie "Dunkirk" today and I highly recommend the movie, one of the best war movies I have ever seen. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. But don't take my word for it, go see it yourself! I'll probably have to see it once more though, as I was too busy looking at the soldier's slip-on shoulder patches identifying what regiments they were in, silly me.
Anyway I was very happy to obtain this great condition attributed glengarry to Black Watch along with the other items in the grouping. More item(s) from the grouping to be posted soon. Thank you all for reading.
It's great to have such a group from the same soldier.
Did you see it in Imax? I am looking forward to watching this. another great piece too your collection.
Racer4four,
Thank you for your comments on both the Victoria Rifles of Canada Service Cap and this. I was very happy to get this grouping and will post the rest of it today, it's a great group. I was happy to get the original period photograph of him too, as I have very few photographs of the soldiers wearing the actual headgear that accompanied it.
Caperkid,
I did not see it in Imax but I think I'll definitely see it once more, and this time in Imax. It's a great film, tell me what you think of it after you've seen it. And as always, thank you for your comment on the Black watch glengarry.
Best regards,
-Jamie
