I absolutely love this piece of furniture. Trying to decide if I should refinish or keep it original. Problem is...I have no idea where and when it originated, I'm thinking it's french but really not sure. Any ideas? The pictures include a front view, leg view, side of drawer and looking down on the top. Thanks!!

Why would you want to refinish it ? I can't see anything wrong with it and of coarse I am never for refinishing old furniture unless necessary . It is quite eleborate and would stunning in right room as it is .

It would be a shame too refinish it. It's beautiful!

It is elaborate but the piece has rather poor chasing on the brass escutheons on it. The chasing on a real bronze piece would normally be pinpoint accurate, sharp. So it is a repro probably 1980's or 90's when they made a lot of repro items like this. Used to see them in the stores at that time. Not sure if it is inlay, but that is well done. Leave as is.
