This document was found behind a framed print of John Adams, and is unfortunately glued, on one edge, to a piece paper backing. It appears to be an official document from the US Congress, but I am not sure. The document reads:
"The Senate took into consideration the report of the committee in answer to the address of the Vice President of the United States on his retiring from the Senate; and the report being amended was adopted.
Ordered, that the committee who adopted the address wait on the Vice President with the answer of the Senate."
The first paragraph, can be found nearly verbatim in the records of the US Senate.
It was written and signed by Secretary of the US Senate, Samuel A. Otis; Otis had held the Bible for George Washington's swearing in.
What I am unsure of, is what this document actually is. Is it an official record from the US Senate? Is it something that would've been done in multiple copies by Otis? I'd appreciate any thoughts!
