I love pieces that have a different type of application, shape or finish- this one has it all. It is a 9" Loetz with drip feet and arms with a flash iridescent finish. This was made between the late 20's or early 30's. "Is this loetz?" Are what I remember the dealers first words were. "Yes", came emmediately after with a jump in my chest. The next words were hard to answer... "How much is it worth?". Then silence. The Selena with haggling for pieces are that it seems to be a game- and a Dealer, I'm not. So instead of the "how much do you need to get for it" response, I just quoted a number where I can afford it and if I Sell it I could get my money (or most of it). I think how much you pay is sorta not the point for a collector. My internal question is more like: does it add value to a group of vases?, does it send me in a new direction or does it did go deeper in a vein of what I have. I then set a good price with not much wiggle room; then the reply: "I can get it for you for this price (shipped). It was even better than I quoted and made me realize that an honest offer is always rewarded.
The last pic shows why it was so valuable to me
That iridescence on the trailing is AMAZING !!!!
It's a beauty. I totally agree on value. Yes, I have a strict budget, but value for me is exactly as you say - where does this fit with my collection?
Wow! Love the tropfen! Blue and yellow is always a bold combo!
These are beautiful Jerich!
I emailed you a pic that I think will be of interest.
