old heat lamp (?) fixture, maybe from a farm/barn (?)

I truly don't have a clue what this old hanging (?) light fixture is supposed to be for, but for some reason have always suspected it is intended for use on a farm, perhaps to hold some sort of heat lamp to help in the production of chickens, eggs, or something like that. It is about 12" tall overall and about 10.5" across, the upper portion holding a ceramic light socket seems to be made of cast aluminum and might be adjustable somehow, the shade part seems to be made of steel (?) and has an unusual yellowish reflectorized (coated? plated?) surface inside as well as a likewise unusual patterned 'gray finish' on its outside. There are absolutely no mfr's ID/info on it that I've ever found, inside or out. The whole thing, again, just seems to me like its built to hold a light bulb that gets overly hot...??

I've had it for 25+yrs or so now and the only thing I *can* tell y'all for certain about it is that the current power cord is not original -- that part formerly lived on a vacuum cleaner and I put it there those 25+yrs ago when I last used this fixture, hanging in my college dorm room with an ordinary red light bulb in it... <lol>

Gonna mark this as a 'mystery', in the hopes that somebody can share a few more clues about what it actually is supposed to be...please...?? :-) :-)
