i need help to identify theses silver markings,i am familiar with english and european hallmarks, this marking has a man on a horse,i live in the city of durban, south africa and was told that the man on the horse is dick king,a famous south african hero who liven in the 1830's,i would like to have a more concrete evidence that it is so.
Hi from Sydney Australia!
I've seen two other refernces to this mark on the net. One is a tie pin.

two marks are shown...one a "G" on a napkin ring and the other an "E". My contribution is that the letter on your tie pin is a Celtic "E". I'd say it probably is a date letter given the Cape silversmiths' use of pseudo English forms on occasion. I'd suggest you contact the South African Antique Dealers Association and ask if they have someone who can help you with 20th century SA silver items.
I'm surrprised that there is so little on the net about SA silver.
