in my opinion, this is one of the better pieces of west german pottery.
it is a design by gerda heuckeroth & heinz siery for the "carstens toennieshof" workshop. this modell 100 is part of the "atelier series" and came in different decors..... i like this series
Carstens were the best of the WGP makers as far as great design I think. Love this, so modern.
very beautiful! when was this design developed?
I believe this to be from circa 1962 ... actually the geometric decor and brushed elements reminds me of some carstens art deco "spritzdekor" pieces.... certainly the foamy fat lava glaze hasn't been used in the 1920s to 1930s.
the luxus and atelier ranges were more expensive products by carstens post war production. the atelier range was launched in 1962 and designed by gerda heuckeroth. the luxus range launched five years later in 1967, being sold to large stores.
