Found this at a local antique shop today. According to the tag it was made in the 1940s. Does anyone know what the spike on the cage floor would hold? I love the three metal Asian figures around the base.
Trouble finding a category for this? Why aren't birds listed?

Thanks to fhrjrz for the following info:
I have been raising birds and going to bird fairs for many years and have seen this type Asian cage a few times. However, it wasn't a cage for a live bird. It was an ornament called a wedding cage. There would have been no perch. The spikes would have had a fairly large white candle mounted on it with flowers around the base of it.

I love how the top mirrors the chinaman's hat, here is a song which is down a notch from your wonderful cage, sung by a Canadian, this should be a category :

fhrjrz, Wow! That makes sense. Very interesting! I figured that a bird would get hurt on the spikes...it just didn't make sense. Thank you so very much for this information!

Thanks a lovely bird cage, but I have to say the table under it really interests me, it really looks nice from what I can see, Trevor

This one isn't old nor is it Asian but gives you an idea of what it would look like.

      fhrjrz,
Thank you for this! For some reason I'm not getting my responses in my emails.
