This silver necklace is marked sterling. It was found semi buried with some other little items in a small cardboard box near a deserted old house/shack.
It was highly coroded and needed much cleaning with toothpicks and silver dip then polished, but there seems to be black corrosion inside the hollow links. It is construced of odd shaped links tht are hollow. It is not very attractive, and looks odd. It is 15 inches longand very heavy. I have not found anything like it. The clasps are made to be very secure. the one on the right reads STERLING on the tab,not very visible due to glare. no hallmarks. It sort reminds me of art nouveau.
Any help would be welcome.
Silver doesn't corrode, it just tarnishes. The black inside the links is likely to also be just tarnish. Can you edit your post and add a clear photo of the clasp area against a white background?
