    PostCardCo…
    (437 items)

I have quite a few real photo postcards from this same farm folks and on the same farm where they had a lot of Sheep, Pigs, and Chickens
My favoite is shown here #3, with a young mom and her baby, sitting on a porch stoop, feeding chickens the birds causing a frenzy!! This still is my all time favorite!!
Number 4 is one of interest--same time, same farm Did the whole community came to the barnraising--or are the building a house?? It looks like everyone, even kids are having the time of their life. Simple pleasures, and good friends.
    Please enlarge 2 times.

I have, more good photos of this farm and people. I don't know if you like to see really rural life or no? I love these 'cause I was born and raised in Chicago.
I have added No 1 &2--which shows the way the "help" lived--pretty shabby
and Number 2 A worker with a load --I mean a LOAD of logs I guess he did this every day to supply the family in the big house , the kitchen, and the worker cabins. If I had room I would show the home the owners lived it. Huge.

Two more people checked in and showed interest ,(jscott0363, and MacDaddyRico ==THANKS!!) and I am so glad that a few people liked these. I have more great photos (to me, anyway) of the daily life of the same farm. It is nice when you can buy a bunch of family photos when descendants don't even want them! Memories. Precious to me--but then, I am not a collector of monetary valued items--for me, it s in the joy of seeing folks and situations of our American past that get me" feelin' groovy!"

      Love the baby :)
Looks more like a shed (what we call a barn) than a house. Interesting they have power lines there.

There were many shabby, run down cabins on the property, I think housing for the laborers. Maybe that is where the lady is sitting. I'll put some of those on here later. I am so glad people do "love" my vintage farm photos!

      PHOTOS ADDED---PLEASE ENLARGE THEM.....
!Take a look now at a workers cabin-shack on the same farm Photo #1
Here in photo #2 one of the workers with a pretty darn huge load. Where can that be on its way to?? Aren't these TOO long to be used as fireplace logs...or did they split them "as needed"-
-I noticed the length when I enlarged the photo--tap two times for big enlargements. Lois

The logs are on their way to saw mill. Not for private usage. No 1 doesn't seem to jive with the rest. In this picture it's winter, there are no leaves on the trees. The guy with the wagon looks like he's moving house with his bundled belongings, and a mattress.

I don't think anyone lived in the 'cabin'. The windows are filthy, there's no step up to the front door - the cabin is wonky. The front has never been cultivated, at least not in the last five years! The whole place is leaning to the left. No self- respecting woman would live somewhere with an unpainted front door.

      These are my observations.
    13. Gillian, 7 years ago
What I mean to say is, these are things that I've observed from the photos. I don't claim to be right, it's just what I've seen when studying & comparing photos.

I have well over a dozen photos of this group--All are marked," Hilding Lund Family--" and are from different seasons--trees with and without leaves--coats and summer-wear.And different styles on hats and caps. and maybe over different years. I will never know..All I have is a family name. and their photos. No location and no true dates.
Maybe the cabin/ shed was at one time just for storage or tools, maybe a smokehouse--there is a chimney. and perhaps he has taken a bit of a load from the place I can't see any things I seem to be able to identify for sure that he has loaded. Looks just thrown in.
Always fun to speculate--thanks for telling what you feel is happening. I do the
exact same thing! It stimulates the imagination and it is a good thing!
