I came across this piece while organizing my Fathers estate. I've spent hours online trying to find out information about it but the only thing I've found is a post with a similar piece calling it a corn holder. Can anyone give me more information? What year was it made? What exactly is it?

Corn holder manufactured circa 1900s;
Engraved and used by WAC (Women Army Corps) around 1943/1944.
Name WAC is from July 1st 1943 by Decision of President Franklin Roosevelt
to replace WAAC (Women Army Auxiliary Corps) created on May 14, 1942.
It is not unusual to see artifacts manufactured decades before creation of the WAC and used during WWII with engraving added.
