This Victorian lidded jar is made from clear glass with a satin finish. It has applied decoration of leaves & a single cherry, & measures 15 cm tall.
Sadly, one of the leaves was broken off & reglued at some point. The metal fittings are unmarked. A rather nice flea market find, nonetheless.
    Possibly Bohemian origin?

Beautiful..... With pieces like this I think it's great good fortune to find one at all so I too would overlook minor imperfections.

I agree completely! I couldn't say no to it...I'm fortunate to have a wonderful flea market near me that has served me very well over the years.

It is a beautiful piece-- nice that the broken leaf was saved and reattached.

Many thanks, Scott...yes, it's good to know that someone cared for it enough to do that...& so it could continue to be enjoyed.

Unfortunately petal and leaf chips are almost expected with this type of glass.

I have 50+ pieces of this type of glass (applied flowers, stems or fruit) and probably less than 10 that don't have at least a slight ding or chip (many just noticeable by touch).

Fabulous. The satin finish is a fantastic back drop to the fruit. Love it!

So true, Scott - I have many items with applied decoration, & quite a few have their issues, but are still beautiful...to think they've survived at all is near miraculous.

Many thanks, Vintagefran - yes, satin glass & fruit are an ideal combination - need more of it!
