Have tried to figure out what this is unsuccessfuly, My Bestie and I are guessing it is from the early 1900's ,maybe from a military uniform or religious . We could be way off on that assumption. It is not a bookmark. We can find nothing on the internet and we tried looking the patent up. This piece of Brass is driving us CRAZY. We have asked antique shops, and none of them have ever seen this. It is also a possibility that it slides in to another piece. The total length of the chain is 8 in. we think its brass. The open faced crosses are 1 inch. Maybe a part of a accessory to a uniform. We just don't know. Please help us solve this mystery!!

Here is the pdf view of the suspender end loop. It appears someone added the fastener to it, to accept the chain and crosses, for decoration.

Thankyou for the info. We have looked at it thoroughly and its all one piece no evidence of alteration., all the same material and believe its machine pressed.
