This is how it is now, only arrived yesterday. There is a lot of work to do on this one. Case repair and full restoration. Movement is okay, but the triple chime that plays Westminster; Whittington and St Michaels, requires adjustments. The dial requires re-gilding and a clean up. Fortunately there is no damaged bushings and all cogs and shafts have full integrity. Makes a welcome change for a clock of this complexity and age. Estimate 1920's and rare. I will post further pictures when it's finished. Thanks for looking as always.

Well, the veneer was a nightmare, lifting and peeling back. Though, easily repaired with a steam iron to reactivate the hide glue that was failing. I have just started the french polishing process, but this case required two coats of clear sanding seal, which rebuilds the foundation for the films of shellac that are going on now. It will be a handsome thing when finished. Re-gilded bezel and a mirror case finish. That's the plan anyway. :)

Case is done, now the dial and bezel then the movement.

Everything went well, the movement is repaired, the bezel re-gilded and it chimes on time, last picture will be when I've reassembled it. I'm waiting for a suspension spring, the current spring has a mild crease, still works fine, but I need it to be as perfect as possible, so replacement is a must do. I want my clocks to run for many more decades.

You finished with this clock yet?
What are you going to do with all these clocks? Do you sell them after refurbishing them? I can't bear to part with mine... my kids will be inheriting the full lot!

Yes Bryan, the finished pictures are up. I sell some, keep others. From my personal collection there's enough for all the kids and grand kids.
