I think this may be some type of tea kettle or coffee percolator. I have also been told it may be a Babcock tester for determining fat contebt of cow's milk. I am stumped.

All Good Questions MacD, and i have the same, and more. To the OP: Very Cool Looking Piece, whatever it is, but you are allowed 4 photos, so take 3 more if you will, and post them. If it is hinged and opens, does it have an "O" ring or gasket between the 2 halves?
What is it made from, copper, i assume? Are there any burn marks on it to indicate it was heated to make coffee, tea etc.? What does it smell like inside, milk, coffee, tea? Until these questions are answered, i believe it is a Very Cool Looking Steampunk Piece of art work, and conversation piece.

I believe you both have a Jena glassware tea pot. Thermal, to keep the tea hot and a handle so you don't burn yourself. Very fancy....I wish I had one, then I would take up drinking hot tea instead of iced!

Victorian English breakfast warming thing.... buns, eggs, kippers, kidneys, bacon, etc. Odd design with bottle on the top side, for hot water?
