Manikin
(62 items)
I have been working on restoring 2 stores display manikins for past month and after much work the are ready to have a coming out party :-)
This manikin is 25 inches tall made by Darling Co Michigan 1940's
She sort of reminds me of a Coca Cola Girl but she would have modeled sample size clothes for patterns and garments sold in the store . You could order it in full size but to save on material during WWII many of these miniature manikins replaced full size ones and were displayed on a counter top . They were working girls and are not dolls .
She came to me with crushed feet and ankles fingers missing and a make shift arm rod from old piece of lumber with 2 in nails in it ! I had to refashion arms back to how they show be and redo the arm opening so that arms would stay in place .It took 2 hours to remove old tape ! She is not perfect but heck she is 70 plus years old and bound to have some wrinkles :-)

What an amazing transformation, Mani! There's nothing you cannot do.
Hi AnnaB I have missed seeing you ! Have you found any new dolls lately ? I always love your posts . Keep in touch my friend :-)
Hi Mani, yes, i'll try my best to stay online, but it's not easy. I did find new dolls, i think my family will soon evict me =) In fact, I'd like to share one of my most recent projects. This rescue was not as dramatic as yours, my skills and knowledge are still pretty limited, but i'm proud that one more doll is rescued from a trash can. I'll post it separately. Glad to be back!
I will watch for your post Anna :-) You always do a wonderful job saving these treasure !
What a beautiful work. I wish I could find one of these.
Thank you mcheconi . I wish you could also . To bad your so far away because shipping from USA would be very expensive . I still love that one you have :-) So nice to see you my friend
