I've had one gentleman confirm he does believe this is an original Steiff Mickey. However, It is missing the Steiff ear button, and I can't seem to find a hole where one would be.

A great vintage Mickey. That would be a very early one. Everything seems to Steiff but very few actually are.
He is wonderful and is done in style of Steiff but that he is cloth not velveteen is different but he does have the stamp on foot like Seiff did it would have Mickey Mouse Copyright and I think Walt Disney was stamped on foot . If he is a Steiff he is a variation in cloth and I can't tell if his velveteen has wore off but to my eye your's was never velveteen and to my knowledge they never did him in just cloth however anything is possible . Let us know if you find out maker ok . Love him no matter who made made him. Maybe there is a Steiff Collectors site on internet .
Hi!
Here is a detailed article about this particular doll = https://myobsessionwiththemouse.wordpress.com/2015/12/23/borgfeldt-two/
Cool doll! :)
Hi, sorry to add a comment so late but I just found the image of your Mickey on Google images and I think he is identical to one I bought last Christmas from Ebay. https://www.addedpixiedust.co.uk/2018/05/my-1930s-american-mickey.html . Mine was in a bit of a sorry state and needed gloves and shoes so it is good to see that what I create for him isn't too far off the original. Really excited to find another doll the same as their are so many variations and it is difficult to identify exactly which one he is but I too had found the article Hickeyguy posted above. Have you come to any more conclusions?
I still have not found the maker of my
particular doll but am leaning more and more towards the Borgfeldt doll
