i've had this old workbench for over 20 years now. i bought it at a second hand shop in san francisco and have lugged it everywhere since. i really like it alot - all wood joints, paint splatters and nice wear too.
I like your workbench as well. It has that "well loved" appearance.
This bench has more character than some people I know. I gotta love it.
thank you jscotto and fhrjr2! this is what a well-made workbench should look like after 80 yrs or so.
what a terrific bench! I was wondering if you know what period that the leg design is from ? I have a stool I am trying to date with the same leg construct and am wondering at what time in history was that the popular way to make a bench or stool? Any knowledge in these matters will be appreciated.
thanks johnnymack. i'm not quite sure how to date this workbench. it's a primitive/country piece - possibly french or american. the splayed legs assure that it's very stable. the peg construction is pretty impressive and has withstood time incredibly well. if i had to guess an age, i'd say early 20th century or late 19th century. what do others think?
Perfect!
i used a similar as a dining table
i may post mine as well
i like these undestroyable pieces
thanks buckethead and getthatmonkey! wow - that's a pretty low dining table! did you sit on cushions?
