these are called 'molas' and made by the Kuna Indians of Panama. i have good friends who are Kuna.
I don't suppose you would know if there is any meaning to them or what they represent
i like trying to figure out what animals they represent. it helps that i've lived in central america for a couple years. the first one looks like a king vulture with some iguanas, etc. the second one is an upside-down cat with some kittens - maybe inside it - not born yet? maybe? could be a jaguar, but not a very fierce one. third one is a kuna fishing boat with three fisherman. the last one had me flummoxed, but i think it is a king vulture picking up a northern tamandua. i'll let you look those ones up!
Love these molas. They look like the real thing.
