I am just trying to find out any information on these old bottles. I can't seem to find any dates, ranges, rarity, or anything else. I love old bottles and picked these up. The paint is rough, but they still have great character. Anyone know anything about them or worth?

One of the bottles is curacao (a type of orange liqueur) manufactured by the French liqueur maker Garnier. They were a prolific maker of liqueurs and sold them in all manner of novelty bottles. The other bottle appears to be Marrasquine (or Maraschino, a liqueur made from the pits of marasca cherries), but I can't quite make out the name of the maker. The Curacao bottle was bottled for the American market since it bears the label of Julius Wile & Sons, Garnier's US importer. The other bottle appears to be sealed with a foreign tax strip but I'm not sure which country it is. The value of these is likely not great, but they are neat pieces and I'm sure are worth more to you than they are worth monetarily. Cheers, --Eric ewitz@comcast.net

On closer inspection the Marrasqine bottle appears to be Cuban, since that looks like a Cuban tax strip, most likely pre-Castro (1950s or earlier). I still can't decipher the maker's name. Interestingly the famous Hemingway Daiquiri cocktail was invented in Cuba for the author Ernest Hemingway, and the main differences between the Hemingway Daiquiri and a regular Daiquiri is that the Hemingway contains grapefruit juice in addition to the standard lime juice, and is sweetened with Maraschino liqueur instead of sugar. Cheers, --Eric ewitz@comcast.net
