In the 1950'2 Poole created some new shapes and did a range in tribute of the work of Truda Carter. Today these are called Trudiana. The shapes and the design were more modernist in feel. This plate/charger is a massive 13" in diameter or 33cm across. The paintress of this plate was Iris Downton who worked at Poole from 1954-61. The YU mark is the for the design and the Poole stamp suggests a date from 1955 to 1959. These plates are not uncommon, but I love the way a few strokes can build to a striking image; it's almost calligraphic.
