    Hi Folks,

I aquired these bonds from an older gentleman in 1977 from a warehouse he was liquidating. At the time I really didn't think much of the purchase, an old box of expired bonds which no one seemed to want.
As the years went by I became curious about the stamp on the bond that had been pressed into the bond on May 1st 1912.
Can you help identify the stamp?

If you don't want that North Jersey Rapid Transit certificate I will gladly take it. I live next to the old right -of-way. As far as the stamp, that is probably a tax stamp to show that tax has been paid. Same purpose as a stamp seen on cigarette boxes and liquor. Many cancelled certificates have tax stamps affixed to them.
