I saw this beautiful lamp at the back of a local shop and, since I was in the market for a table lamp, I bought it. I later found out that this was originally a candlestick holder made by Val St. Lambert in Belgium. Mouth blown, as is all their creations. The conversion to a lamp was done extremely well by whoever did it. The candlestick is 17" high. I looked it up and discovered that it's from the Indo Grand collection. Retails for more than $600.00. I bought it for 3 bucks and change. I have no plans to restore it to it's original state :-))))
Thanks for looking!
Bonnie
600.00 for a candle stick? Wow! It is really pretty tho. Maybe you can get a clear wire on it so it's hidden completely.
And I was just going to post that ring to show you but for some reason, There's no way to upload the photos right now. I looked at it again and I do think for sure it's a 70. No idea what that means but it's there.
It's a good thing I stake no claim of any real knowledge about this sort of thing, until I read this post I thought I was looking at clear lucite....lol
Personal opinion is I find glass much, much nicer.
Awesome find, and even better steal of a deal price! So what's new?....lol
Congrats on this sweet find!
@shareurpassion - the coating over the wire is clear. It just looks different in the photo. Can you email me the ring photos? My email is listed on my page.
VSL gorgeousness, repurposed so well.
I love this Bonnie, so much more usable as a lamp!
Bonnie, I just came on to check something...having a yard sale Saturday and been real busy, movin' every thing I can outta here! I'll do that either Sunday or Monday, depends on how badly this is gonna beat the you know what outta me ;)
Thx kiddo.
@shareurpassion - oke dokey ! Good luck with your sale tomorrow :-)))) I will be standing in front of a local thrift shop that is opening after being closed for vacation/renovations. They have a sh*tload of new things and I am going to be right in front of the door!
@ racer4four, definitely more useful as a lamp! When I took it to the register to pay for it, the woman behind the counter tried to casually pick it up - not happening! The sucker is heavy and also very tactile.
Bonnie! Even when hunting for a table lamp, you end up with a high score :-D
Superb piece!
Another great buy Bonnie! :^)
Pascale, it's wonderfully tactile, too!
That's good that it's clear then. I know sometimes, most times, the camera brings out things we really don't even see and makes them look...obscure or distracting.
I came back to get your email addy but thought I'd try to post and I did get that ring posted btw.
Bingo !!!!
I really need to come to the Netherlands and go on a shopping excursion with you. Lovely lamp by the way.
YES!!! That on the bottom is a VSL Val St Lambert! And the best thing is that I actually remembered it! Oh damn!!! Now the worst thing about it is that you already knew it! hahaha I just looked up at your post to see if you had 2. Hey, you did really good identifying those initials!
Happy Holidays to you and yours Bonnie! ;)
