The 6- and 8-legged seem to be so popular on this board, thought I would share a couple of mine. They did not photograph well together, so here they are separately.
First up, a tiny, under 1 inch, bee, done in the guilloche technique of colored enamel over textured metal. Older style T hinge and C clasp, marked STERLING SILVER.
Any additional info always welcome.
Awwwesome Bzz Bzz! You seem getting my virus ;-)
Wow, you two are fast off the mark! Thanks for the love. Put them up specially for you, kyratango. :)
Oh, how gorgeous! The colours are beautiful :-)
An adorable Victorian (tube hinge) brooch! Insects were a popular theme for jewelry in those times.
Thanks, you devil, you. And thanks FS for the additional info. Does anyone know how these would have been worn, where on the garment. Collar? In a swarm on the bosom?
so pretty
Thanks for all the love. Does anyone else think CW should make 'entomological jewelry' its own category?
Yep, of course... at least, ME ;-)))
You are such a presence on CW, they might accept the suggestion, if it came from you. :)
