Another tiny, buzzy critter. Amazing amount of detail for what must have been a fairly inexpensive item.
The translucent plastic wings have veins painted on them. The seller mentioned the specific material used but I did not keep a note. If anyone knows, please tell.
Top side light blue underneath, a darker green added over main segments, accented in red. The green has had some granular material mixed in to add texture and sparkle, like sugar. Underside is white.
Pinback marked KOREA. Rollover clasp and pin stem are spring loaded, so that safety clasp snaps securely into place when closed past the midpoint and pin pops open when released from the clasp.
Another of these was sold on etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/504607976/vintage-enamel-fly-pin-korean-insect
Oh, so whimsical and colorful! I love it, of course :-))
Thanks - me too. You can almost hear it. :)
I love this one, ready to fly off! It is so well done.
So pretty! Painstaking work, all hand done.
Thanks racer & FS. It occurred to me last night that since it is marked simply 'Korea', it may not be, as the etsy listing described that one, from the 70s, but from before the Korean War & partition into north & south. Anyone know about this? ROK is the official abbreviation for South Korea.
pretty fly!
Thanks to all who love this little critter. :)
