The US military does like its Ms and the M variations. The Germans on the other hand prefer extremely long names like panzerkampfwagen. Anyway this is a US item so on with the description.
In Korea there was a problem of getting the bayonet on and off the M1 Garand due to the cold weather. This version came out in 1953 a bit late for that war. The blade and scabbard were the same used for the M1 Carbine. The guard, handle and release mechanism were changed. The blade is shorter than the previous bayonets for the M1 Garand. This size was more practical especially as the bayonet was typically used as a tool.
In photos 3 and 4 it is shown with the bayonets from the M1 carbine and M16 rifle. The bayonet featured in this post is the one in the middle. All 3 have the same scabbard with variations. They may still be using this blade design for the current bayonets.
On the handguard is stamped MILPAR. I messed up on photo 2 but if the bayonet was flipped over that is where MILPAR would be. When buying bayonets of this style that is something the buyer should see. Milpar also made survival and combat knives so be on the lookout for those, I will be.
