When buying this little chair the antique dealer informed me she had bought the chair approx 20 years ago at an Antique auction in Manhattan NYC
Originally for her own collection I bought it and was told she thought the chair may have been Shaker
Though similar in style the ornamentation on the chair is not characteristic of the Shaker style
The carvings are almost arrow head like - more North American Indian.
