This is a Mexican Lobby card for one of Gene Kelly's many movies called AN AMERICAN IN PARIS / SINFONIA DE PARIS from 1951.
Eugene Curran Kelly (August 23, 1912 – February 2, 1996) — known as Gene Kelly — was an American dancer, actor of film, stage and television, singer, film director, producer and choreographer. He was known for his energetic and athletic dancing style, his good looks, and the likeable characters that he played on screen.
Storyline
An American in Paris is a 1951 American musical film inspired by the 1928 orchestral composition An American in Paris by George Gershwin. Starring Gene Kelly, Leslie Caron, Oscar Levant, Georges Guétary, and Nina Foch, the film is set in Paris, and was directed by Vincente Minnelli from a script by Alan Jay Lerner. The music is by George Gershwin, with lyrics by his brother Ira, with additional music by Saul Chaplin, the music director.
The story of the film is interspersed with dance numbers choreographed by Gene Kelly and set to Gershwin's music. Songs and music include "I Got Rhythm", "I'll Build A Stairway to Paradise", "?'S Wonderful", and "Love is Here to Stay". The climax of the film is "The American in Paris" ballet, a 17-minute dance featuring Kelly and Caron set to Gershwin's An American in Paris. The ballet alone cost almost half a million dollars. I love this musical! I first saw this way back in college during a cinema appreciation class. I watched and enjoyed it many times since then. Nice lobby card :)
It's very entertaining buckethead I've watched it more then once over the years and it never ages. The Mexican lobby cards are well detailed and colorful. Nice to hear it brings back good older memories for you.

Sorry Roddy for being so slow. Had my sister here for a spell now until the next weekend. So many new people on site now, it almost seems flooded. Love your card and remember an antique shop in Mirvish village in toronto where they had hundreds of these in the 70's. Wonderful find. Is this the larger ones. Seems bigger than the 8x10 regular ones.
Hi Phil, you are right there are some new collectors on here which adds to the variety. This Mexican card is 13 1/2" w by 16 1/2" long the USA cards are 11 by 14". I really like the art work on the Mexican cards so bold and graphic. I have been lucky to pick them up at low prices although they are getting harder to find now. In the early 80's I bought a huge pile of full size movie posters from a theater that had shut down. They are nice but almost everyone had been folded for delivery to the cinemas. You need a lot of space to display the posters also. The 8 by 10 stills were copied to the lobby cards usually 8 different photos per movie making up sets of 8 lobby cards to be displayed at the cinema. Have a great visit with your sister.
