hi, I'm trying to figure out how old this chair might be. I've been searching online but I'm having trouble pinpointing the era. It came with a little pillow covered in the same velvet. It's about 6 in x 10 in and pretty heavy so I'm not sure what it's filled with. I found this chair for $20 at a thrift store so I don't have a problem with putting some money into new upholstery or maybe fixing what's on there so there aren't tears on the front corners anymore. I guess I would like to know how old it is before I decide to mess with it or if it would be better to just preserve it how it is. Personally I like the red velvet I would like to keep it on there but I don't want to continue to rip it as I do plan on actually using this chair not just have it be for looks. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!!

kept searching online and found that it is most likely a victorian eastlake throne/armchair

Definitely does not have any eastlake traits to the carving. A lot of makers put their own design on them. A lot of these type of armchairs like this were manufactured during mid century 50's up until the 80's, some nice ones even later designed to 90's. One of my armchirs has a date of 1950 and Eatons Canada on it. I live in Canada and even around 1940 to 1950 there were lots of makers making these types of chairs in traditional designs. Canada had 100's of furniture makers who shut down during the 70's and later years. The states likely had more.
