I'm having problems identifying a cymbal. It measures 18" in diameter. I would say its is of medium weight. There is only one faint marking that I can find and I believe it says ORIENTA(L)...with no L at the end. I'm thinking the makers mark has either been played out or is underneath the patina. I've looked through a magnified glass with no luck. The piece was found while visiting Jackson, Mississippi but I was told the previous owner also lived in New Orleans in the 60s and 70s. Any information would be helpful.
I don't think that's a trash symbol or a toy symbol my best guess is that it's Turkish spun 1930'ish. I was just in Istambul and they had brands I had never seen in the states. Cool piece of jazz
Thanks for the info. Was told it could be Italian as well because of the way ORIENTA is spelled with an A at the end. I'll look into both.
