Bowie knife with six inch blade, motif on handle is not known to me.
The sheath has metal tip and base, with another motif on the central leather part, also unknown.
Very heavy, very sharp!
No markings on blade, probably Chinese.
Not very good quality wise but attractive.
Thanks for looking.
Update: The handle badge and sheath motif appear to place this knife as being for the boy scouts of Flemish Brabant (Vlaams - Brabant) in the Province of Flanders, one of the three regions of Belgium.
Please see new picture of badges to confirm.
Thanks all.
Bob.
It shure is a purdy knife and sheath, that looks like it was just made? It appears to have a full tang, and looks hollow ground? I have never seen an unmarked knife, unless it was home made, and yours does not look home made to me, so i got no idea. Very Nice!
its a newer version of a boyscout knife .
that's a fluer de lis on the scale.
Ok whyatt, I know you know your way around knives, so is this a china knife? When you say newer boy scout knife, How New? Do you have a link so we may learn more about it? I have searched the web, and can find nothing close to it. Thanks
It could be from Israel or some where in that region . the lion on the sheath looks very similar to jerusalems coat of arms. I don't think its old at all. it is nice though . just because it has what might be jerusalems coat of arms , doesn't mean it was manufactured there . it could've been built any where with request to leave out the country of origin .
that doesn't sound very promising , but most items bearing a coat of arms were issued to people of high regards . jm2cw
@Whyatt: Where ever it is from, i think you nailed it as a German Boy scout dagger design. And, it also is a dead ringer for the WWII hitler Youth knife, imo. Now this scabbard is way over dressed, so i think it was/is a Ceremonial knife, probably for the top dog, the head cheese, the big kahuna to wear on special occasions. Since it has no mark. I'm still stumped as to a maker, but when in doubt, i always go with china these days.
Thanks for the comments Whyatt and Izenglish.
I believe the sheath may not be original, as the scout emblem is not showing when in the sheath.
Thanks for the loves everybody.
