We have been drinking out of these for years, one of the household favorites. It never even occurred to me that they were uranium glass until I put them under the black light we had set up for something else. That made me realize that they're older than I thought so now, I've been trying to identify them and can't for the life of me find any info! They are pretty small - ~4" tal, 3" diameter at the rim, 2.25" diameter base. There's some similarity to Pillar Optic and to Log Cabin but I don't see any actual matches. There are no makers marks of any kind on the smooth bottoms. I'd love to hear your thoughts on what I have here! Thanks.
Looks like Pillar Optic to me too aside from the handles. It's a tough one.
These are made by hazel atlas glass company - pillar optic - they are part of a beer and pretzel set . set consists of 4-6 mugs , pitcher ( 2 sizes ) and a pretzel jar - 2009 book price is 35 each . they are SCARCE . My gusetamation would be 45-60 each now . i have five . hope this helps . they are listed in Gene Florence's book on
( kitchen glassware of the depression years )
Wow! Thank you for your responses. I sure am glad I never broke one because they were our first-to-get-used glasses in the cabinet for years. Thank you so much for the info! Kpkoolectables, once you gave me the word "pretzels" I was able to search and find others like them. What version of the Florence kitchen glassware book did you see them in? I think I have every book but that one!
You are more than welcome! I've been buying and selling glassware for 36 years. I'm not an expert by any means. But I have lots of books. I am familiar with the set because I collected it for a while and I had trouble finding the club foot soldier. But I believe one is available on a link somewhere on this side I saw it and now I forgot where it was. The pretzel jar itself is about 150 to 175 you need to try to buy it it's an awesome set
I've read the pretzel jar is less than $50 at this moment. It is on an auction bedside
