This ladies vanity lidded box has been in my collection now for over 40 years, I believe it is chalkware/ plaster, the detail on the resting lady's hand is Sublime, the detail on the snake bracelet is exquisite. It is surprisingly intact with only a few Nicks on the interior lip and lip of the lid , but I would fully expect those because of its purpose it was made to be used. The contrast interior color and the gold detailing makes this box so romantic. We have loved it for many many years always assumed that it was Victorian, but we recently had a visitor to our home who suggested It could in fact the Georgian. Either way it's a beautiful piece. We are sorting items that we own personally to part with, retired now and downsizing. No room for all of our collections and we need to carefully scrutinize each piece that we choose to keep. Liquidate what is left. If this is in fact earlier than Victorian I have a good case for keeping it in my collection! Thank you so much for your help!
