Old Chi Phi 1824 fraternity jewelry case with a Balfour Sweetheart Charm Bracelet Lavalier. The bracelet is just shy of 7 inches and has two additional charms of a ships wheel and a channel marker buoy. I can't make out any of the lettering on the central charm and haven't seen one similar in my online search. The set was part of my stepmothers estate and without any information on the provenance, I have little to go on. I thought the nautical charms were interesting and want to understand the significance of the crest on the central charm. It is different from the Chi Phi 1824 crest on the exterior of the little case. Is/was it common for the 'sweetheart' to have a differing 'sister' crest? Perhaps the two items are completely unrelated but since they were found together and look to be of similar age, I thought they may be a set.
