      It is a collar disk for the 116th Infantry Regiment.

      The 116th was a Virginia (VA) National Guard unit and became a part of the 29th Division.

      Both the Regiment and Division saw combat during WW1.

      I believe your gold colored (gilt)/ pebbled disk dates from post WW1 era. WW1 era disk would be bronze.
