This is a family "relic" that has been in the family for quite some time.
This is a 1920s Sterling Silver Scottish Clan Cameron Badge. A beautiful, well made piece. An interesting badge design with an medieval knight's arm holding a dagger that sticks into the writing.
Written on the badge is Latin. It reads, "PRO REGE ET PATRIA" - "For King and Country". Beautiful small details all around the badge. When feeling and looking at it you can tell this is a quality piece.
To the back of the badge it is mostly flat, with a pin sticking out to stick it on your cap or clothing. It is "MADE IN GR. BRITAIN". The the word "IN" has it's "N" fading a bit, but other than that the writing is clear.
Overall the badge has minor wear and aging but is in good condition for being almost 100 years old. Great old family piece.
I have always known my family has had clan Cameron lineage so it was really nice to obtain this old piece that belonged to a family member long ago.
This may have belonged to my Great Grandmother (who was a Cameron) or another family member on her side, or perhaps even given to my Great Grandfather as a gift by that side of the family. I can only guess who it belonged to, but really I do not know, it was found in an old box recently and gifted to me by my Great Aunt (daughter of my Great Grandparents).
Excellent family heirloom and story.
Fortapache,
Thank you for your kind comment, once again.
