Although I did not win the heart of a beautiful Swedish girl named Camilla when I was younger, we shared an important friendship which has stood the test of time. And now, my work on this almost 160 year old trunk will also last, as a tribute to the strength of our friendship. The trunk was very damaged when I found it and in need of being reinforced from top to bottom. Additionally, it was covered in a faded green plastic material that had been glued directly onto the wood. Preparing this piece for refurbishing took forever and I fashioned its' outer (and inside) on pictures of other Jenny Linds which I came accross. The top houses a drop-down which allows for an upper compartment. Lots of brass and hand sewn (by me) arrow leather handles complete the re-do. Although this can never equal the beauty of my Swedish female friend, I did my best to come close.
Camilla should be very proud its beautiful !
