In the late 1990’s we made several trips to Indonesia including the islands of Lombok and Sumba. I cannot remember which trip now, but I think it was to Lombok that I purchased this stone statue; approximately 12” in height x 7” and is made from a soft white rock, possibly limestone.
The statue was purchased from an artifacts shop where I discovered the statue in the rear of the shop behind many other items and covered in a layer of dust and cobwebs. I had never seen a statue of this nature in our travels either then or since and its origins and age has always intrigued me.
