I recently purchased this old stove. I have been unable to find anything on this brand of stove. It has 218 stamped on the plate above the stamped PRIZE OAK wording. On the back it says The Toledo Stove &RANGE Co. I have looked up the company and the prize oak thru google and can not find anything:( Any info would be appreciated.

      Hi,
You need to research Toledo Stove and Range. The Prize Oak is the model, and 218 is the number. What you have is a fairly ornate and higher class parlor stove. This would've been in the home of someone a little more well off and possibly had some extra cash. I can tell this by the amount of nickel plating that used to be on it. Should you choose to restore this, which I would do if it was mine, as you take it apart, you will find the date on the inside or backs of some of the pieces. If you choose to have the nickel recoated, be sure they do not chrome it and they stop at nickel plating. There is a lot that should be done and it will be expensive. The place I recommend is Browns Plating. They are located in Ohio and do fantastic work. Your stove appears to be complete but will need one more very expensive part. The mica is missing from the door. This is common missing item, but very expensive to replace. You can only get it from England and for a stove this size, it will cost you around $30.00 Also, have a lot of razor blades, as you will dull the edge after making one pass through the mica to cut it.
