Well today whilst checking a cellar in an old property I found these lying in the undercroft off the cellar. The area was empty and the floor covered in small bits of rubble, but as I walked round I spotted these at my feet all within a 4m2 area. One is AFS which I think is the Auxiliary Fire Service, 2 RAF buttons, one RCAF which is the Royal Canadian Air Force, and a pin that just says US.
The question I have is, are they too far corroded to clean? They appear solid enough (I'm assuming they are brass but can't be sure) so wanted some advice as to what to do with them from a cleaning perspective.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks all
Hamish
Just try one button first...Actually, they are very interesting as is! Cool!
The "US" is an enlisted collar disk.
Pretty rough shape. Take a look under "civil war button cleaning" for ideas on how to clean. Probably more effort than you'll get on return, but should stabilize them.

Thank you for the advice. It's an odd bunch to find in one place USA, Canada UK. I'll have a look at the info under your heading Scott and see what to do from there.
