    RavesAndHo…
    (1 item)

Requesting appraisal on this item: Japanese Geisha image pasted on strong cardboard, 9 1/2" x 10 1/2: with gold border and painting of green tree branches embellished with gold on the top right corner. The image is a geisha carrying a pole on which decorated baskets are hung on both sides. She is wearing an ornate head top that is tied with a ribbon. Her black hair is decorated with what look like silver paper ribbons. She has a sweet, calm face. Her kimono has a variety of colors and shapes. One foot peeks between the opening at the bottom of the kimono. All items on the image are made from silk cloth of very high quality. There is a red stamp on the lower left side of the board; I found no other markings on either side. There are six other boards with different images on each. All have the same marking and look like they were made by the same individual. These belong to a friend who wants to know more about them and who may be interested in selling. He got them in Japan in the 1950s. He doesn't remember where. I promised to learn as much as I could for him, and now I am simply fascinated and want to learn as much as I can.

I just posted the same type picture for you to see, also a Japanese padded picture. I do see them in shops and re-sale shops. that is where I got mine, and I have others. They are not all that rare or hard to find in my opinion, but they are collectible and desirable . However I do not believe they are antique. Others here may have other opinions.

      Can you show the others?

What are they called? What is their history? Is the silk used actually from the clothing used by Geisha? These were purchased in Japan in the 50s. What does that tell me? Thanks!

When I know more about what these items are as well as their value, then I can post some of the others. Until then, I think I'll wait. Sounds like they aren't all that, but to me, these are very special works of art. Thanks for asking!

I did not find the "same type picture" you posted and am hoping you can tell me where to go to find it! Thanks.

I brought mine up to the top right now, but it will carry on down pretty quickly.
