i posted a couple of green awaji wall pockets last week which had what appeared to be poorly finished mouths - where the glaze stuck to the stand. i thought maybe they were to hang very high up where the mouth couldn't be seen. then i found this piece on ebay and it shows how they were covered w/ rattan in order to hang them.
